Professor Can Zhang, born in May 1965, Doctoral supervisor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmaceutics of China Pharmaceutical University, Dean of the Academic Institute of Pharmaceutical Science, Director of the Center of Advanced Pharmaceutics and Biomaterials. She is concurrently the Associate Editor of Biomaterials Science, the journal of the British Royal Society of Chemistry, and Standing Member of the Biomedical Composites Branch of Chinese Society for Composite Materials, Member of the Nanomedicine Committee of Chinese Pharmaceutical Association, and Member of Academic Committee of Tianjin Key Laboratory of Key Technologies of Clinical Drugs, Editorial Board Member of Journal of China Pharmaceutical University and Member of Academic Committee of China Pharmaceutical University.
From September 1996 to July 2000, Can Zhang received the master's degree in Medicinal Chemistry from China Pharmaceutical University. Then she obtained her PhD. in Polymer Chemistry and Physics, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Nanjing University, from January 2001 to December 2003. Can Zhang has been working at China Pharmaceutical University since July 1986, and was a visiting professor at the University of Maryland and a senior visiting scholar at the Toyama Medical University, Japan. She has received special government allowances from the State Council and she is also selected as a new-century innovative talent of the Ministry of Education, a leader of science and technology in the 333 High-level Talents Cultivation Project of Jiangsu Province and also selected as the second-level training object of the Project. She received the honor Outstanding Young Backbone Teacher in the Jiangsu Blue Project. She won the first prize of Natural Science Award, Ministry of Education, the third prize of Science and Technology Progress Award, Jiangsu Province and nomination of Jiangsu Young Scientist Award. Professor Can Zhang was named ESI China Highly Cited Scholar for six consecutive years (2013-2018).
Professor Can Zhang has presided over more than 40 scientific research projects as group leader, such as National Major Scientific and Technological Special Project for “Significant New Drugs Development”, National Major Scientific and Technological Special Project for “Significant New Drugs Development”, National High Technology Research and Development Program of China (863 Program), National Natural Science Foundation of China and key projects of the Ministry of Education. She has published more than 100 SCI papers as the corresponding author in Nature Nanotechnology, Journal of The American Chemical Society, Angewandte Chemie International Edition (VIP, cover story), Advanced Materials (cover story), Nano Letters, Biomaterials, Journal of Controlled Release, and Journal of Medicinal Chemistry with the highest Impact factor at 38.986. Until now, she has signed 21 authorized invention patents and participated in compiling 4 books. The graduate students and undergraduates supervised has obtained the honor of outstanding doctoral thesis (three persons), outstanding master thesis (one person) and excellent undergraduate thesis (one person) of Jiangsu Province.
